Living and working near the Bakken Shale made opening an oil and gas division a natural fit for The Executive Group–and Jamie Mathis was the perfect fit to lead energy recruitment efforts.
“When I get a job request from a client, the first thing I do is immerse myself in what that job is about,” she says. “If it’s a position I’m not already familiar with, I do a lot of research to make sure I thoroughly understand it. Then I begin the process of finding the right candidate.”
Initially Jamie worked predominantly with petroleum engineers, but as her clients began to ask for additional specialists within the industry, she began to broaden her focus. Today she works with organizations seeking purchasing executives, environmental and safety professionals and human resource experts. Regardless of the type of position she is seeking to fill, however, her process is a consistent one.
“My goal is to create long-lasting relationships with companies and with candidates,” she says. “I am involved in one of the most important aspects of a person’s life: their career. I also understand the critical need the company has to find the right individual. I want them to be a good fit for one another–I want the candidate to be with the company for the rest of their career if possible. That’s why I am willing to dig a little deeper.”
Jamie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Communication with an emphasis in Business, as well as an AAS in Human Resource Management. After hours, she enjoys spending time with her family camping, fishing and having fun outdoors. She is also an avid reader, who says you can usually find her with a book in her hand.
